Last year, I kinda, maybe tore apart KADOKAWA's Aliceliese. So it's only fair I do the same to FuRyu's one! I'm only joking. Hello, today we're going to be looking at FuRyu's expensive and stately Aliceliese Lou Nebulis IX! A lot is going on from her dress to her hair, which doesn't seem to end. She's indeed grand and stately from the onset.
So I had a few criticisms for KADOKAWA's Aliceliese. They were mainly directed towards her hands and feet, which don't look like issues here. I likely will mention her, but I'll attempt to keep it on point for this version. That said, both versions do have several similarities. So, some areas may sound familiar if you read the previous set of impressions.
Impressions
Let's start with Aliceliese's eyes, which are vacant-looking again. If feels like FuRyu did the impossible and topped KADOKAWA in making her eyes look even more vacant. Her eyes are based on the standardized anime character design versus the light novel one. In it, we see her pupils colored a lighter shade of red against a darker red iris. A black outline comes across her eye and underneath the pupil, with a lighter outline taking the top portion. Since so much is going on around her, you really don't notice the half outline nor her pupil color. Before we move on, I want to give a mention to the clean style of her dark brown eyelashes.
From her vacant eyes, we move on to her mouth. Her mouth is stuck between being open and closed. I don't mean it's "half-opened," but that they couldn't decide whether to have her mouth be open or closed. We're left stuck with something in-between. Besides her mouth having a raised edge to signify an interior, there isn't much to say about it. Of course, other than it doesn't look very good. The awkward tilt of her head is the next issue. Though, this is mainly the case when looking directly at her from the front. She's all right when she's looking at you.
Some may, but I don't mind her slightly long face and sharper chin. She looks older for it. Instead of seventeen, she has the appearance of someone between twenty-one and twenty-three years old. Assisting with her mature appearance, Aliceliese has some faint blush in her cheeks, as with the last two figures we discussed (Utaha & Lyn). Her face has some all right areas.
But Aliceliese's nigh non-existent pupils, uninspired mouth, and forgettable nose all make her face look bland. For that, her face is the worst part of her design. Because the rest of her is decidedly not "bland," it's unforgivable.
