This rendition of Poison Ivy seems less threatening and more bishoujo. In fact, with Ivy’s delightful proportions and inviting gaze, she’s firmly in the bishoujo category.

Starting with the most pertinent highlight as well as the one which cannot help but elicit the most stares are her thighs; they’re plump, but not overly so and filled with color. In addition, the position of her foot emphasizes muscles in her knee when viewing from the side. You can also see that she has a healthy physique—below her full bosom, her abdomen is defined, though it doesn’t detract from her hourglass figure. The leaves protruding from the edges of her outfit and specifically, boots appear as if they’ve been woven, and are a nice touch.

One part of the figure which is usually second, is the base, but as is common with Kotobukiya, they give care to the chosen base and it usually elevates the figure. This is especially evident with their Raphtalia. The trunk provides another way to pose her without having her stand upright and again, it’s the pose which allows her lovely legs to be highlighted!

Although Kotobukiya’s Poison Ivy Returns is a very nice figure, my chief issue is with the paintwork for her abdomen; it doesn’t reflect the light that well and from certain angles, emits a somewhat plastic look. Then again, as those are studio lights, it would be interesting to see how she fairs under softer natural light.

However, beyond all which makes her a bishoujo, do her narrowed eyes belie her coquettish gaze? Is her plant waiting for her approval to strike?
